APC's National Caucus, NEC Meetings To Hold This Week

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may have bowed to the threats by APC governors to convene the party’s national caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.

The national leadership of the APC is to hold separate meetings of its national caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) this week, Daily Trust on Sunday learnt yesterday.

Reliable party sources said while the national caucus would hold at the Presidential Villa on the night of Thursday, November 21, the NEC would meet on Friday, November 22 in the morning at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

When contacted yesterday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, who confirmed the development, however, did not speak on the agenda of the meetings.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who returned to the country on Friday night, is expected to be part of the meetings.

Last Wednesday, the APC governors asked Oshiomhole to either resign or convene a meeting of NEC to resolve all challenges.

Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that critical matters would be sorted out at the national caucus meeting to be presided over by the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and attended by the leadership of National Assembly, including the Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The issues discussed at caucus, sources said, would be ratified at the NEC meeting expected to be brief because of the Jum’aat prayers on Friday.

Part of the issues expected to be ironed out is the need to fill the existing vacant positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) and the ongoing political battle between the party’s national chairman, Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State ahead of the 2020 gubernatorial poll in the state.

The outcome of the governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states is another matter expected to be reviewed together with the state of the party in various states.

The governors, under the aegis of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), said in the current circumstance, nothing short of a NEC or national caucus meeting of the party could resolve all increasing organisational challenges as a party.

The position was contained in a statement issued by the NGF Director General, Salihu Mohammed Lukman.

The governors said the party’s national leaders must rise to the challenge facing the APC as a party and take all necessary measures to convene superior organ meetings to begin to resolve all challenges, stressing that “the current public disgrace must end.”

They expressed concern over the current feud between Oshiomhole and Obaseki and the disqualification of its deputy governorship candidate in Bayelsa State.

The governors, who said the efforts should have been made towards vacating the court order disqualifying its candidate, warned against the repeat of its misfortunes in Adamawa, Zamfara, Rivers and Bauchi in Bayelsa, Anambra, Edo and Ondo states with the current development.

They expressed belief that the vacant positions in the NWC should have been filled.

In Edo, factions loyal to Oshiomhole and Obaseki had suspended the two leaders after passing votes of no confidence on them at separate press conferences.

Constituency Projects: Senate Move For Total Control Of Project Management

The Senate has introduced a new bill that seeks to consign the management of constituency projects initiated by federal lawmakers.

The Bill when passed would deny ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal government from having any input in awarding contracts for projects captured under the constituency fund.

The Bill seeks the setting up of a special fund made up of 2.5 per cent of yearly budget to be dedicated to constituency projects.

The Bill also stipulated that the fund when set up would be managed by the Rural Development Department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Currently, constituency projects of lawmakers are captured in the capital allocation of relevant MDAs.

The MDAs also award the contracts and determine the execution of the projects.

The practice had led to outcry by lawmakers who often complain that funds for projects allocated against their names are never released or suffer poor releases which often stall the implementation of such projects.

Investigations by The Nation show that the N100billion allocated for constituency projects in the 2019 budget have not been released by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a bid to forestall the repeat of the development in future, a former Leader of the Senate, Ali Ndume, has sponsored the “Constituency Development Fund Bill, 2019”, which scaled first reading on the floor of the red chamber, on Tuesday.

The bill, according to a copy, obtained by our reporter on Friday, seeks to legalise the management and implementation of constituency development funds in the country.

Against the current practice where MDAs are fully in charge, the new legislation seeks to entrust the execution of such projects in the hands of the Rural Development Department of the proposed agency.

The decisions on the projects to be implemented, according to the bill, would remain with the various constituencies through the Constituency Development Project Advisory Committees set up for each federal constituency and senatorial district.

INEC May Cancel Results From Units Affected By Ballot Box Snatching

The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) in charge of Information and Voter Education and Festus Okoye has said that election results from polling units where there were reported cases of ballot box snatching may be cancelled depending on reports from the presiding officer in such units.

Okoye also said that the Commission was not aware of allegation made by the Peoples Democratic Party that Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC was forcing the Commission to sign prefilled results.

The INEC National Commissioner told The Nation that if there are areas where ballot box snatching was reported, the presiding officer is expected to write a report on such incident to the Electoral Officer stating the issues concern and how they fill into the guidelines.

According to him, the report from the presiding officers from such units will help the commission to determine whether the results from such units will be cancelled outright or whether a rerun will be ordered or whether unit will be awarded a zero score.

He said further that until such reports is received from the officers on the field the commission will not take decision on it.

On the allegations that Governor Bello is forcing the Commission to sign prefilled results, he said the commission was not aware of such incidence and is not party to such action.

He said “we have some Resident and National Commissioners and other senior staff of the commission on the field. They are doing their job in accordance to the law.

He said “we are not aware of such an incident and if such an incident is taking place, there will be a report because we have some Resident Electoral Commissioners supervising a cluster of local government areas. We also have some of our senior staff and national commissioners out there in the field. So, there is a channel through which people can report. So, if a thing of such is happening, we will have a report immediately.”

Kogi Election: 30 INEC Staff Missing

The electoral commission, INEC, has declared 30 of its staff missing.

The ad-hoc staff took part in Saturday’s Kogi State governorship election. They were posted to Olamaboro Local Government Area (LGA) by the commission.

They were declared missing around 1 a.m. on Sunday during the final collation of results in the local government.

The missing INEC staff include Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) of polling units in Imane ward 1 and 2 of Olamaboro LGA of Kogi State.

Many of the ad-hoc staff used by INEC are corps members of the NYSC.

Just as the whereabouts of the officials are unknown, results from the polling units where they served have also been declared missing.

Announcing the development, the LGA Election Officer, in-charge of collating and announcing the local government’s results, Garba Mahmood, said the INEC ad-hoc staff were reported missing after the observation of some police officers who raised concern that they were last seen shortly after voting ended at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr Mahmood said repeated calls to their telephone numbers did not go through.

According to a PREMIUM TIMES AND PTCIJ observer who witnessed the declaration by Mr Mahmood, the official asked party agents whether or not the missing staff should be waited for. Based on their response, he declared them missing.

Mr Mahmood then released the names of the missing persons.

PREMIUM TIMES tried to contact the spokesperson to the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, on the status of the missing staff. He did not pick calls or reply a text message sent to him.

The police spokesperson in Kogi, William Aya, could also not be reached on the status of the missing persons.

The Kogi governorship election was characterized by violence, ballot box snatching, intimidation of voters and vote buying in many parts of the state.

Although 24 candidates are contesting the election, it is seen as a context between incumbent governor Yahaya Bello of the APC and Musa Wada of the PDP.

See the list of the missing staff as provided by INEC and the police at the Olamaboro collation centre.

Gov Dickson Accuses Military Hierarchy Of Compromising Security In Bayelsa Poll

The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has accused the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, of compromising security in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor said that, even though Gen. Sarham has been transfered to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, he refused to move and waited behind to supervise the use of the Army to perpetrate heinous electoral crimes and irregularities in the Bayelsa guber polls.

He noted that the GOC and the Brigade Commander of the Artillery Brigade, attached soldiers to all APC leaders in all the wards who they use to terrorize people from one polling unit to another.

The Governor added that the GOC moved to Yenagoa to personally supervise the undemocratic and illegal activities of the Army in the Bayelsa polls, using the Brigade Commander of the Artillery Brigade as the commander of his soldiers in the orgy of violence on Bayelsans.

Major General Sarham was reportedly expected to handover to his successor, Major General Felix Aguguo, on November 5, but was said to have aborted the handing over process till after the Bayelsa governorship poll.

It would be recalled that the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Moses Cleopas, had alerted the nation of a plot by the APC to use the GOC and the Nigerian Army to undermine security during governorship poll in Bayelsa.

“I am accusing the GOC of of the 6th Brigade, Major General Sharham Jamil of delaying his handing over process after his transfer to the Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna, to perfect this illegal mission of rigging the election in Bayelsa.

“He and the Brigade Commander of Artillery Brigade, Elele, Lt Col Wase, are the ones attaching soldiers to all APC chieftains in every Ward to rig the election in all the polling units.

"I understand that because of the desperation of the Federal Government, the GOC 6th Division, Port Harcourt, Gen. Sarham who is known as the commander of the APC Army rigging wing, refused to move even with his transfer to the NDA as commandant and I wonder what lessons he will be giving to those young cadet officers.

“General Sarham has defied his transfer posting and has stayed back to complete his mission of rigging Bayelsa for APC.

“General Sarham has moved to Yenagoa some days back and he’s there now breathing down on everybody and using soldiers everywhere to terrorize, intimidate and to arrest our people.

"So gentlemen, let me say once again, this election, you should allow the people of Bayelsa to vote, anywhere the people of Bayelsa have the opportunity to vote, they will vote PDP. They will vote for the candidate of our party. APC knows that and that is why the desperation is so high.

“I call on the President of the Federal Republic, even though he has decided to look the other way since 2015 when Timipre Silva, his right hand man was deployed to kill and terrorize our people.

“The President has to wake up and do something; this is not a democracy; what is going on in Bayelsa in the name of an election is not a democracy.

“The observers are everywhere and everyone knows what is going on. I call on the president to call the security forces, the Army to do what is right, I call on the Inspector General of Police to be true to his professional calling and direct the DIG and all police officers to protect the people of Bayelsa State.

“I do not want to be pushed to the level of calling them to defend and protect themselves, I would not want to do that, but please, there is so much a people can take in the hands of their brothers and sisters in the name of an election", Governor Dickson lamented.

I still love, respect my ex-wife –Gbenro Ajibade

Actor and model, Gbenro Ajibade, has revealed that he still loves and respects his ex-wife, Osas Ighodaro, even though their marriage didn’t work out.

Speaking with Saturday Beats, Ajibade said: “I still have a good relationship with her (Osas); it’s still good. We are still good, regardless.”

Asked why he criticised her publicly on Instagram for allegedly abandoning their daughter to attend a party back in February, the actor said, “I didn’t ‘call her out’ (criticise her publicly); I was just using Instagram as a tool to save the situation. But unfortunately, decisions were made and I had to agree (with them).

“Do you think I wouldn’t have tried other means? People will definitely say what they have to say, they will never understand. I still have love and respect for her, regardless. If not for everything, we have a child. A baby is not born to carry the burden of the father and mother.”

He, however, said he could not share the lessons learnt from the ordeal.

“I cannot tell you what I have learnt because the experience is personal. That is why I said I am grateful because the experience has helped me a lot. It has helped me to be a better person. Regardless, I will always be there for my daughter. I still have love and respect for her. She is still a good woman. The fact that things didn’t work out well doesn’t mean we have to bear grudges and all of that. We have gone beyond that.”

Ajibade, who recently returned to Nigeria from the US, said he missed Nigeria.

Prince Andrew speaks to BBC about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein

The Duke of York has answered questions about his links to Jeffrey Epstein for the first time, in a BBC interview.

He spoke to BBC Newsnight's Emily Maitlis in an interview recorded at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

Maitlis said it was a "no holds barred interview", which will be broadcast on BBC Two at 21:00 GMT on Saturday.

The duke faces serious claims over his ties to the 66-year-old US financier, who took his own life while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

In 2015, Prince Andrew was named in court papers as part of a US civil case against Epstein.

One of Epstein's accusers, Virginia Roberts - now Virginia Giuffre - said she was forced to have sex with the duke three times between 1999 and 2002, in London, New York and on a private Caribbean island owned by Epstein.

At the time she was under-age according to Florida state's law.

Gernot Rohr Promises To Win The 2021 AFCON Title With Nigeria

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has stated that his goal with the Nigerian national football team is to win the upcoming African Nations Cup in 2021.

Rohr, who guided the Super Eagles to victory against Benin on Wednesday is out of contract in June 2020 but says his plan is to lead Nigeria to the summit of the African tournament rather than just qualify for it.

Nigeria face Lesotho in it's second match of AFCON 2021 qualifying this weekend and hope to make it a second win during this international football window.

The Franco-German coach who once played for Bayern Munich led Nigeria to a second-round exit in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and a third-place finish in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Speaking on his future plans, Rohr said;

“It will be exciting for me to win the 2021 AFCON title with Nigeria. That’s my desire, and I will be the most excited.”
“So winning against Benin is just the beginning. I can’t be excited until we win the title in 2021.”

Reminiscing on the Super Eagles win over Benin, Rohr said to reporters; “The Super Eagles had a lot of scoring opportunities, but they failed to convert all of them.”

“In the second half, we played a very good match, ‘one-touch two-touch’, and we have good wingers. We had a lot of opportunities, and with the changes we made, we did very well. It is good for us.”

Political Office, Public Fund Reveal Person's True Character - Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has accused Nigerian politicians of undermining the electoral system in Nigeria.
Jonathan who spoke in Port Harcourt during the presentation of a book by Gabriel Toby, a former deputy governor of Rivers on Thursday November 14, called for the adoption of electronic system of voting to curb electoral malpractices as he stated that the country would not have deteriorated to this point if people’s votes mattered.
He admitted that there is an assumption that every politician is useless but averred that people don't change when elected into public office. The Bayelsa-born politician insisted that what happens is we vote for people we do not know.
He said: “The assumption is that every politician is useless, but the question of whether people change when they are elected into public office is something political analysts, researchers should unravel.
“However, I believe that people do not change when they get into political office, rather we voted for people we do not know.
“It is difficult to know people until you give the person political office and public funds to spend, that’s when you know the true character of such fellow.
"Another key issue is that we do not vote people into leadership offices, they use different means to get into office.
“When we develop as a nation to a point where our votes count, when people vote who they believe in, the behaviour of politicians will change.”

Sue Me Or Shut Up - Tuface Tells Blackface

Nigerian singer Tuface has reacted to Blackface's continous threat of suing him on air and via social media.

The ex-band member of defunct Plantashun Boiz who is celebrating his 20 years on stage anniversary alleged that what Blackface has done so far is to engage in a smear campaign.

Tuface told newsmen that his former bandmate has a problem but no one knows what the problem is.

He said "Let me put it like this, you just go on air and start spinning lies. I have never said or done anything bad to Blackface, but he just goes on air and starts lying all the time because he wants to spread hate. It is a smear campaign.

"He keeps saying he is going to sue me, so I am saying sue me! You know say I no thief your song, you just want people to hate me. Stop the nonsense. Anytime he comes on air, ask him ‘wetin im do wey make me sue am? Ask am whether I no write am letter before say guy stop this thing, I did not steal your song’. What have I done to him? He just hates me. It has become an obsession and it is not healthy for him anymore and there is nothing I can say or do to help his dilemma, so I don’t know. It is not like I am giving up, but it is all up to him now. He has to free himself from that bondage.

"Everyday, he keeps digging himself into this mess and now he has kids growing up. It is unfortunate. Before, I was quiet but he is always blabbing. Had I taken it serious from the beginning, we wouldn’t be here today.

Legally, I have done my own bit, so I don’t have anything to tell him. The funny thing is that he has a problem but nobody knows what the problem is. So, if you will not sue me then shut up!

Stop killing yourself; it is becoming too embarrassing. I can’t get him arrested and sent to a psychiatric hospital, so please, people around him should talk to him."

Clive Owen cast to play Bill Clinton in upcoming FX series “Impeachment: American Crime Story”

The British actor has been cast to play the 42nd president in the upcoming FX series “Impeachment: American Crime Story.”

The show’s third season will focus on Clinton’s 1998 impeachment trial. Owen’s leading ladies include Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky and Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp.

The role of former first lady Hillary Clinton has not been cast, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The show will begin production this spring and tentatively air in the fall.

Lewinsky will produce the season because executive producer Ryan Murphy felt that she was the only person who should be allowed to tell this particular part of American history.

“Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do,” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter last year. “If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.’”

Although Owen’s casting comes at a time when current President Donald Trump is going through an impeachment inquiry, Murphy told Deadline current events won’t influence the Clinton-centric series, according to Deadline, which first reported the casting.

“We do a show that is very thoroughly fact-checked and vetted and based on bestselling books by Jeffrey Toobin,” Murphy told Deadline earlier this week. “I think the reason why it’s interesting is because you don’t have to change anything to feel modern. And I think that idea of impeachment, obviously with Trump, is fascinating. I wouldn’t say that we’re changing things that much or mentioning Trump at all in our narrative.”

Woman 'bit her boyfriend's penis' during row about him flirting with friend

A woman bit her boyfriend's penis during a row about him flirting with another woman, police say.

Esperanza Gomez, 33, is claimed to have carried out the act in an apartment in Miami Beach, US, where the couple had been drinking from 9pm until 3am.

The row is believed to have been sparked after Esperanze accused her boyfriend of wanting to have s.e.x with a friend who had joined them in the apartment.

She arrived at midnight and left shortly afterwards.

According to NBC-2 News , a police report says she also grabbed her boyfriend by both arms and poked him with a knife leaving red marks and redness but no substantial injuries.

The incident in the US follows a similar case last month in which a woman hacked off a man's penis while he was raping her.

The woman then ran from her attacker n.a.k.e.d and covered in blood to knock on front doors for help.

The alleged attacker is already on the s.e.x offender’s register in South Carolina, USA, according to US media.

The local Greenville News paper reports the man is now out of custody on bond after the alleged sexual assault in August.

Sadio Mane Helps Kitman Carry Equipment Off Senegal Team Bus

Sadio Mane is one of the best footballers in the world on form right now but the Liverpool forward isn't about to start letting success go to his head.

Since moving from Southampton to Liverpool in 2016 the Senegal forward has become one of the Premier League's most talented players and in the last year he's become one of the world's best.

This season he's scored 11 goals in 17 games in all competitions for the Reds but he's not about to stop being humble. The 27-year-old is currently on international duty and he was videoed helping the kitman carry water.

It's not the most grandiose of gestures but the simplicity of it is what makes it so brilliant, Mane isn't going to get loads of plaudits for doing it but still happily picks up the water without thinking.

There's no pressure on the forward to do so, his teammate walked straight past, and it is likely the kitman's job to sort the equipment off the bus but still Mane is happy to chip in, what a guy.

It's not the first time in recent history that the former Red Bull Salzburg winger has shown his humble side off the pitch either.

Earlier this season, after Jurgen Klopp's team beat Burnley in their fourth league win in a row, video emerged of the forward helping to clean a mosque.

It's not apparent when the video is taken from but once again it's Mane chipping in when he doesn't need to and isn't going to get any praise if it wasn't for someone else choosing to film it.

Mane and his national teammates have just started qualification for the 2021 African Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cameroon.

Senegal won their first game 2-0 against Congo on Wednesday and they next play Eswatini on Sunday.

Whatever happens to Mane in the short, medium or long term future, no matter how much success he has, it's likely he'll continue to work hard and show humility on and off the pitch.

Lionel Messi Scores Winner On International Return And Silences Brazil Boss Tite

Lionel Messi told Brazil coach Tite to "shut his mouth" during a furious bust-up on his Argentina return.

Messi returned to international duty following a three-month ban by scoring the match-winner in his side's 1-0 victory over fiercest rivals Brazil.

He scored a penalty rebound in the 14th minute and shortly after his goal, he exchanged heated words with Tite who complained to the referee.

And speaking after Brazil's defeat, the 58-year-old coach explained his side of the story while revealing his clash with Messi.

"I complained because he [Messi] should have been shown a yellow card and he told me to shut my mouth and I told him to shut his mouth," he said.

"I don't want to answer anymore on it. You need a strong referee because he'll swallow you... It should have been a card, I was right to complain. And that was it."

Brazil captain Thiago Silva also slammed Messi after their defeat to Argentina in Saudi Arabia.

"He wanted to run the game, wanted to blow the whistle. He gave two balls to the ball and the referee did nothing. He argued with the referee and the referee kept laughing. Admiration has to be set aside," he explained.

"It's hard, because we talk so much about education and one of the most admired guys in football say... I'm not going to tell an old man, because he'll be mad at me, but have a coach shut up. As much as you have rivalry, education must come first."

Messi's first half goal leaves Brazil without a win in their last five games. Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus had the chance to level the match, but he fluffed his lines from the spot.

I can´t wait for my degree, so y´all stop saying I´m dumb – Huddah Monroe

Critics believe Huddah became a socialite because there is nothing more her ´uneducated´ brain can do for a living. Well, she is planning to prove them all wrong.

The common belief is that most ladies who choose to become socialites have ´nothing´ between their ears and are mostly uneducated.

Huddah has fallen victim of such trolls after many called her out for her kind of ´cheap talks´ that are a true revelation of her low IQ.

So now, she has risen up to the challenge and has decided to prove her naysayers wrong.

Through social media, she revealed her intentions to go back to school and secure her degree for all who believe she is nothing but ´dumb´.

Adding that even those flaunting papers and graduation photos, are way dumber than her.

Huddah believes the reason why most leaders are men, is that most women are not well educated. So she wants to break the chain.

Actress Padita Agu Opens Up On Her 3 Year Old Crashed Secret Marriage + Shares Regrets And Gives Advice

Nollywood actress, Padita Agu has finally opened up on her crashed Marriage which lasted only three years...
In her Youtube channel 'Padita's pages'',she explains that they married the day she met him for the first time time, they used taxi drivers that conveyed them to the Registry as witnesses and why the Marriage eventually crashed.

She says.............

''Marriage at first sight!

This is the story of how l married a man the very first day we set eyes on each other. The marriage lasted for only 3 years and those 3 years were the most miserable 3 years of my life. So miserable to the point that l attempted committing suicide.

I am sharing my story to serve as a lesson to other girls cause l don't want other girls to go through what l went through.

How She Met Her Husband

She narrated how she met her husband at a friend's place. She didn't take notice of him then. But later that day when she got home, the friend called her that the guy who was around when she came to visit, the friend said he was interested in her. She told her friend that she couldn't recall him and that she wasn't interested, but her friend kept calling and pressured her into exchanging contacts with him.

"So he called me and we started communicating over the phone and that was how we got into what we were not suppose to get into that l regret till date. We got along well. He would call me in the morning and we could talk till 6pm or at 10pm and we talk till day break. We were doing this daily and in one week, it already felt like l knew him so well like l know my family. And before you know it, we started dating, talking marriage and getting committed".

"When we finally met, he was not my spec. But because l had already committed to him on phone without meeting him, l just let it flow. But l wished l had waited to see him in person".

We talking over the phone and we got to the point of agreeing to be married. So he decided to sell me this wonderful idea, that how about we go on some adventure, lets get married the very first day we get to see because all this while we have been talking, I don’t remember his face. I haven’t seen him. He just saw me once when I came to my friend’s place to console her. He might have seen me in my movies, I don’t know. All I know is that at this point, we don’t really know each other. We haven’t seen each other but we have been talking over the phone and we were so familiar.

So he said okay, how about we try some adventure, we arrange a marriage and we just see ourselves right at the registry when we are getting married. I was like wow, that’s deep, that is serious. I was like what would my family say? What would I say to them. I was just scared but excited at the same time. So he said for my family, we don’t have to tell them about the secret marriage. So once we are done, we would just go and meet them as though we were dating and we tell them we want to get married and we take it from there.

So once we get married, maybe years later, if we had kids and all that, we can now open up to them and say ‘oh by the way, we had a secret wedding. At that point, it wouldn’t matter because then, we are already married. And as for him and I, once we do it and we meet ourselves and we realise we don’t want this anymore, as quietly as we did it, we would just go and undo it.

So I thought to myself, there is no harm in this. If we don’t want it again, we dissolve it quietly like he said and my family don’t have to know about our plan because eventually we would wed properly before my family. So, I thought it was a nice idea.

So we went ahead. I went to the registry because he was out of the country at the time. I went to the registry, got us registered. The day came, it was my birthday. He also chose my birthday to make it special. So I felt wow, this is amazing. That day I didn’t tell anyone. In between, he told me not to tell anyone. that if I tell people, nobody would encourage it for some negative reason. Some might be jealous. Tho l eventually told a friend and she was mad about it, discouraged me, and told me not to go ahead, l still went ahead.

On the wedding day, I arrived at the registry with a cab. He arrived with a cab. The cabman who brought me signed as my witness, and the cab man who brought him signed as his witness. and we wedded. From there, we went to see my family to tell them we were dating and wanted to get married and we continued from there.

Time would not permit me to tell you about the horrible experiences l had in the marriage, but the marriage lasted for three years and that three years is the worst I have ever gone through in my almost four decades of living to the point I attempted suicide.

I just wanted to kill myself and end the trouble. There was this thing about actresses not staying in marriage so I just couldn’t see myself leaving and so I just wanted to stay there. Since I couldn’t leave, I thought I should just end this whole trouble. I know some of you would be like this is why this girl left the industry. Yes, this is why I left the industry. He didn’t tell me to leave directly but indirectly, he got me out of the industry, cut me off everyone, everything…my career, my school, my family and friends. Well, except friends he was okay with ”. I wasn't doing anything (starts sobbing)..

I would tell you more about the experiences l had with him in the next episode

Lessons she learnt from the marriage :

◼️Never give into pressure. Be it peer group pressure, societal pressure or pressure from friends or family.

◼️This goes to people in a long distance relationship. Never assume you are familiar with someone you are talking to or chatting with on phone or social media. Never commit deeply until you see that person.

◼️Never settle for a spouse that you are not compatible with. Be it emotional, intellectual, financial compatibility and spec as well. Go for your spec. Also don't go for someone you are not physically attracted to.

◼️Never live in isolation.
