Leroy Sane’s ACL Injury Cost Him A £400,000-Per-Week Contract From Bayern Munich

Leroy Sane missed out on the chance to pocket an eye-watering £400,000 per week at Bayern Munich after picking up an ACL injury.

The Manchester City star, 23, was subbed off in the 13th minute in his side's Community Shield win over Liverpool at Wembley.

And the injury picked up in his collision with Trent Alexander-Arnold has put his future in doubt when it comes to a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the German champions were ready to offer Sane a whopping £20.8m-a-year contract.

Bayern Munich were willing to offer the Premier League champions £110m plus add-ons for the German winger.

The summer transfer window closed for English clubs on Thursday, but German clubs can continue to do business until 2nd September.

But reports claim that Bayern Munich will try and negotiate a season-long loan for Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho, who was linked with Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

City confirmed on Thursday that Sane would be undergoing surgery after tearing his cruciate ligament.

"[Sane] has undergone testing throughout the week, with a specialist doctor travelling to Manchester for further examinations to understand the extent of the injury," reads the statement from the club's website.

"Manchester City will provide Leroy with all the support and guidance he needs, and everyone connected with the club wishes him a quick and full recovery."

The Germany international, who was signed from Schalke in 2016 for an initial fee of £37m, is expected to remain at City next season.

Pep Guardiola's men will kick off their title defence tomorrow against West Ham United.

The City boss, who is chasing his third consecutive Premier League title, has admitted that he will not risk the domestic league crown for the Champions League.

"The Champions League is an important tournament, difficult to win," the Spaniard said.

"But I don't want to go to the casino and gamble everything I have in my pocket for seven games. I don't want it.

"I would sign right now to do what we did last season again.

"Not winning the Champions League and [getting] four titles again."
