'Grant Nnamdi Kanu Presidential Pardon' - Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths Beg Buhari

Igbo youths under the auspices of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has begged for the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari in stopping the arrest order handed down by a Federal High Court, Abuja against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

It would be recalled that the Abuja court had on Thursday ordered the arrest of Kanu and ordered that his trial on charges of treasonable felony should proceed in absentia.

Kanu’s bail granted in 2017 was also revoked by the court.

The President-General of the youth group Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike, made the plea in a statement on Saturday, adding that such action might destabilise the fragile peace that had returned to the South-East region.

According to them, Kanu’s first arrest witnessed widespread instability in the region.

They pleaded with President Buhari to pardon Biafra agitators as a way of showing compassion to Igbo.

“The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide received the pronouncement and re-arrest order of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court in Abuja with rude shock and disbelief.

“Weighing the implications of such action, it may destabilise the fragile peace that have returned to the southern part of Nigeria, especially the South-East and South-South after the sad experiences witnessed during his first arrest and subsequently the untimely death of innocent Igbo youths and women that characterised his first arrest and detention.

“And there is no need to escalate the tension already established in the South-East over the menace of herdsmen ravaging parts of Igboland. There is no need to compound our loss by allowing Nnamdi Kanu return now until Igbo Christians and Traditional leaders intervene in the process.

“We are pleading with President Buhari as the father of the nation to grant presidential pardon to Nnamdi Kanu, as a way of showing compassion to Ndigbo”, the statement reads in part.

Copyright: I Will Deal With Lil Kesh - Gospel Singer, Busola Oke (Eleyele)

Gospel singer, Busola Oke, aka Eleyele, has revealed that she will deal with Lil Kesh over copyright infringement on her intellectual property.

Oke in her claims alleges that the rapper took a part of her song in and used it in his new song, Undertaker, which was released on February 29.

In a chat with The Punch, Eleyele fumed that she would make a scapegoat of Lil Kesh.

She said,

“His manager called me and told me they wanted to use my song and I told them I didn’t understand. I told them that they should discuss whatever they wanted with my lawyer. Later, my lawyer told me that they had called him and that he told them not to use the song.A week later, Lil Kesh’s song was released.

I think they had already used the song before they called us. We have been trying to reach him since then. My lawyer wrote to them stating that we were ready to go to court, but we couldn’t find his office address; so, we had to post the letter on social media.

Maybe he thinks I’m an illiterate that cannot do anything.”

Decrying the lack of respect artistes have for intellectual property, Eleyele said,

“I feel very bad about it because it is getting too common. I think that’s what is in vogue now. But I’m going to end it. I will use Lil Kesh as a scapegoat; I will accept nothing but justice. He will meet me in court.”

A Woman Who Wants To Go Far Should Respect Her Husband – First Female CBN Director, Tope Omage

Tope Omage, the first female Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Director of Finance, has stated that any woman who wants to go far should respect her husband. In an interview with Punch, the first female Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Director of Finance who recounted her experience working  for 37 years in the banking and financial sector, stated that women always have lots of challenges when their husband doesn't agree with them.

Tope Omage who further disclosed that any woman who wants to go far should learn to respect her husband, added that her husband helped her a lot at the height of her career. Here are excerpts from the interview below;

How were you able to balance your busy schedule and your family life so that none suffered?

They say behind every successful man, there is a woman. Behind every successful married woman, there is an understanding man. I am lucky to have a man who is my cheerleader, who encourages me and is not threatened by my success. And that is what a lot of corporate women, who are at the top of their careers, would tell you. If your husband does not agree with what you do, there will be lots of challenges. At the same time, any woman who wants to go far should learn to respect her husband. My husband helped me a lot. He understood a lot and I tried to use every resource available to me. When my mum was around, I used her. When I had to get home helps, I did. I also used gadgets such as deep freezers and microwave ovens.

When some women rise to the top of their careers, they start to disrespect their husbands. How were you able to avoid that trap?

It is a two-way thing. The Bible says, ‘Husbands, love your wives. Wives, submit to your husbands’. If you know somebody loves you, it is easier to submit because you know that whatever he tells you would not be detrimental to your well-being.A lot of men are threatened by their wives’ success. Every woman must know her husband. If you know your husband has inferiority complex, you wouldn’t lose anything by kneeling down for him as many times as possible if you want to keep your marriage.I am an executive committee member of the Women in Management, Business and Public Service. In WIMBIZ, most of our women are high corporate flyers and they still have their husbands because they understand what it means to respect one’s husband. If you must go high, you must be humble.A lot of men are looking for successful women to marry, but I would ask them, ‘Can you handle it?’ because he who pays the piper dictates the tune. She’s earning so much and you want to command her anyhow you like. So, when we are judging a case, we look at both sides.

Speakership: Lagos, South-west Reps May Dump Gbajabiamila For Wase

LARGELY excoriated for his alleged lack of acceptable human relations, the ambition of the House of Representatives speakership hopeful, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, may be deeply under the waters, judging by feelers from his colleagues in the South-West and particularly in Lagos State, where he hails.

Representing Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, the lawmaker, who is the current Majority Leader of the Lower chamber, is believed to be the anointed of Senator Bola Tinubu, his political godfather and the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party with the majority in the chamber.

Tinubu pushed him for the same seat in 2015, but the fourth-term lawmaker, lost to the incumbent Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003.

Sunday Tribune gathered from APC inner circle Saturday night that Tinubu had been having a hard time selling the speakership candidature of Gbajabiamila to many Reps-elect from Lagos, who are expected to help in pulling their colleagues, both of APC and of other opposition parties, from the South-West, into the agenda.

Apparently aware of the poorly-guarded animosity towards the Gbaja agenda from many of the elected lawmakers from Lagos and the unfavourable feelers from the rest of the South-Western states, the unveiled threat of expulsion made by Tinubu on Friday, was said to be largely meant to douse the growing mutiny at home.

Speaking at an event of Friday, Tinubu vowed that elected parliamentarians from APC, who refused to vote those picked by the party for the Senate presidency and House of Representatives speakership, would be sent packing from the party.

The statement had generated a lot of negative reactions across political divides, with many describing it as unguarded, with the potential to hurt the Gbaja agenda.

Senators and House of Representatives of the PDP hue voted against Tinubu’s candidates for the two top jobs in the National Assembly in 2015 and feelers from the present crop of the minority party parliamentarians suggest a possible repeat, though the leading opposition party is also rumoured to be considering fielding candidates for the two major seats.

The national leadership of the party is, however, yet to make an official statement on how the party lawmakers would likely vote on the day of the inauguration of the Ninth assembly.

A senior APC member in Lagos told Sunday Tribune that the personality of Tinubu’s choice was more of the problem and not whether South-West should have the speaker’s slot, despite having the VP slot, currently filled by Pastor Yemi Osinbajo.

“Gbaja o niwa (Femi Gbajabiamila is not of qualitative personality),” the senior party member told Sunday Tribune, adding that “this (pushing his candidacy through) will be difficult. Even our people (Lagos Reps-elect) are not buying into the agenda.

“Everybody knows he can’t relate well, so how is this (his speakership agenda) going to be possible? Our people (Lagos Reps-elect) are already shifting loyalty to (Ahmed Idris) Wase, the fellow from Plateau (State),” he said.

It was learnt that in order to mask their preference, majority of the elected lawmakers from Lagos and South-West at large would likely join forces with lawmakers from other geo-political zones, who are also seeking to disobey the party’s position on the two seats, to demand secret balloting in electing the next speaker.

In 2015, secret balloting was also adopted, with Dogara dusting Gbajabiamila.

Tambuwal received INEC certificate of return as 16 APC members elect boycott
The party is yet to make a formal pronouncement on the zone to produce the speaker and the lawmaker being chosen to have it.

The national leadership of the party had claimed it was doing personality zoning by locking definite names, to available parliamentary top positions.

Considering the chummy working relationship between Tinubu and the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, the position is expected to be zoned to the South-West and Gbajabiamila, in particular.

Wase has been representing Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau State since 2007.

He is a Muslim like Gbajabiamila.

The religious factor may work against Wase, among those pushing for a speaker from the North-Central, who expected a Christian like Dogara, to emerge as a balance to the power equation.

Except Orji Uzor Kalu, who threatened to join the senate presidency race if not given the deputy senate president slot, the remaining top contenders for the number three seat are Muslims, with one of them expected to emerge.

Senator Ahmed Lawan is the party’s choice.

FG To Set Up Cashew Processing Plants In Four States — Ogbeh

The Federal Government says it plans to set up cashew processing plants in four states of the country to add value to the product and create employment, wealth in the country.

Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Ogbeh said the move would also reduce the waste of cashew fruits and delay in the export of raw nuts out of the country.

According to him, we are currently wasting an estimated 8 million tonnes of cashew fruits annually.
He said the long term solution to the delay in export and stocking of cashew nuts at the ports is for Nigeria to be an exporter of finished products and not raw materials.

Ogbeh listed the states where the plants would be set up to include Enugu, Benue, Kogi, and Oyo.

“The challenge is usually access to credit because a good processing cashew line will cost you about two million dollars to do something like 10 to 20 tonnes a day. We are targeting that to set up at least one plant each in

Enugu and Benue, two plants each in Kogi and Oyo state, these are the leading cashew producers now.
“We want to assure the cashew stakeholders that in our next level activities, we intend to stop the export of raw nuts and to process all our cashews here and we hope by the grace of God, to have one or two plants ready before next year.

“We are talking with the Brazilians now. We want to bring in machines from Brazil to process the cashew fruits into juice which has a high content of vitamin c.

“It is very good for the health because we are currently wasting an estimated eight million tonnes of cashew fruits annually, throwing them away,” he said.

Ogbeh added: “That is what the Cashew Association of West Africa told me, in Nigeria alone, that we waste eight million tonnes.

“This is our concern, we are very troubled with this development but later in the year, I will have meeting with the cashew producers and farmers association to sit down with the CBN and get some help.’’

The minister, who lamented that the country has been major importers of goods and services, said government is determined to changing the trend.

“The challenge facing Nigeria is that we have been an importer nation which has destroyed our economy.

“We want to change now and become a nation of exporters.

“We have to find unorthodox ways of finding capital for those who want to grow these industries because on their own, it is impossible for them to meet the conditions of banks and financial institutions.

“It is impossible for them to raise the necessary capital which is why the CBN initiatives are very important to us and we have been working with them and we are achieving results.

“The treasury of Nigeria including the CBN has to find a way to bypass the obstacles, the mountains, the rivers, blocking our way to industrial growth.

“If not, we will remain perpetually poor and we will remain permanently incapable of creating wealth and creating jobs for our people,’’ he said. (NAN)

No Plans To Dump APC — Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has said pictorial image being circulated on the social media, depicting his discussions with some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to join the party, is not true.

Okorocha has been placed on suspension by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his reaction, at the weekend, Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sam Onwuemeodo, urged the public to disregard such picture, accusing his political detractors as being behind such postings, clarifying that the picture in question was taken long ago.

The governor believed the declaration of PDP candidate as the governor- elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was wrongly done.

The statement said: “This photograph is as old as the APC government in 2015. But those who were declared winner of the governorship election in lmo with votes from the three local councils of Mbaise have been making fruitless efforts to blackmail Governor Rochas Okorocha to see if that could help them go free with their electoral fraud. They posted this picture on social media with badly written statement and falsely claiming that the governor was in a PDP meeting today. ”

Okorocha said he was optimistic that any stolen mandate would be retrieved at the appropriate time.

I’ll Like To Meet The Sugar Daddy 'Bankrolling' My Business — Ifu Ennada

Ifu Ennada who reacted to rumour of having a Sugar Daddy 'bankrolling' my business after she allegedly claimed she makes N5m a day from it, has stated that she will like to meet him. The Abia State born reality show star who stated that she doesn't pay attention to unnecessary things, added that she ignores a lot of hearsay because she prefers focusing her energy on positive and important things. Ifu Ennada who further disclosed that she will like to meet the Sugar Daddy said to be bankrolling her business, also debunked claims of dating Kemen, an ex-BBNaija housemate.

 Here are excerpts from the interview with Punch;

Controversy

I don’t pay attention to unnecessary things. If it doesn’t add value to my life or brand, I just ignore it. I ignore a lot of hearsay because I prefer focusing my energy on positive and important things.

Fame

The popularity has given me a platform to reach the world. There are people who look out for the things I wear and try to get them for themselves. They also buy my products. They are the reasons I make the kind of money I do. They are my fans and followers. Without them, I don’t think I’m anything.Another positive side is that I’m paid more for hosting and acting. Before, it was quite bad. As regards the negative aspect, it’s mostly the cyber bullying. Sometimes, I just wonder why someone I may never have met wouldn’t like me.

Rumours

I heard that a sugar daddy was the one setting up a store for me and financing my business. That’s preposterous! I’ll actually like to meet this sugar daddy because I don’t know him. The money I’m using to set up a shop is actually from the patronage of my supporters and followers. The first buyers of my products were my fans on Instagram and that’s how I have been able to grow. I also heard that I was dating Kemen and we were in bed together. Again, it’s just lies.

Gov. Ugwuanyi also applauded the Military, through the Division, for its contributions towards the peaceful conduct of the 2019 general election in Enugu State.
The governor made the commendations during the Division’s 2018 West African Social Activities (WASA), held at its Parade Ground, Abakpa Cantonment, Enugu.
Gov. Ugwuanyi, who felicitated with the officers and men of 82 Division, on the age-long socio-cultural annual event “aimed at fostering comradeship and unity among personnel of the Army”, congratulated them for “the many achievements it recorded last year, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, training of personnel and the empowerment of widows of dead soldiers”
He disclosed that his administration, through the Division, continues to maintain the long tradition of mutual understanding, cooperation and assistance between the state and the Nigerian Army. The governor therefore reassured the Military that “we will certainly continue to offer you our necessary support and assistance towards the effective discharge of your very patriotic responsibilities”.
Earlier in his welcome address, Maj. Gen. Maikobi, described the event as “one of the rich traditions of the Nigerian Army which is aimed at promoting team spirit, espirit-de-corps and providing an avenue for the barrack community to showcase the various rich and diverse cultural endowment of our great country”.
The GOC thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for his presence at the event and numerous contributions towards the successes recorded so far by the Division, especially the empowerment of the wives of the fallen heroes, stressing that the gesture has gone a long way to alleviate their sufferings.

Maj. Gen. Maikobi lauded all the officers and soldiers of the Division for their “efforts, dedication, selflessness and discipline exhibited so far” and urged them “to remain committed in the discharge of our collective responsibilities of ensuring peace, security and stability across the Division AOR”.
According to him, “I enjoin you to sustain the tempo, remain vigilant and proactive in the conduct of your duties. I want to also commend and thank your families for their unrelenting support, prayers and perseverance without which it could have been psychologically difficult to concentrate on your assigned responsibilities”.
Highlights of the colourful event include display of vast cultural dance, tug-of-war between Barracks women and female soldiers, presentation of awards and souvenirs to Gov. Ugwuanyi and deserving soldiers, beating of the retreat, among others.

EFCC Raises Team To Quiz Amosun, Okorocha, Yari As Immunity Ends

Ahead of May 29, 2019, handover date to newly-elected states helmsmen, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has set up teams to probe some governors accused of perpetrating acts of corruption, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.

At least 12 states will have new governors on May 29 after the tenure of the current ones would have ended.
The states that will have new chief executives include Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Kwara, Nasarawa, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Zamfara.

Of the 12 states, however, four governors have been accused of corruption.

They include Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State; Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed; the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari; and Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

Okorocha, who has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress, has been accused of diverting over N1bn meant for the campaign of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who contested on the platform of the Action Alliance.

The EFCC said in an interim report that it had arrested the Accountant-General of Imo State, Uzoho Casmir, for allegedly helping Okorocha to launder N1.05bn for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

In Zamfara State, the EFCC is investigating Yari for alleged diversion of funds running into billions of naira.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had, in 2017, ordered an interim forfeiture of the sums of N500m and $500,000 said to have been looted from the Paris Club refunds made by the Federal Government in favour of the 36 states of the federation.

The sums of money, said to have been recovered from two firms, First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited, and Gosh Projects Limited, were allegedly linked to Yari.

The EFCC alleged that the sums of money were fraudulently diverted from the NGF’s bank account on the instruction of Yari. According to the commission, about N500m from the money was diverted to offset Yari’s personal loan obtained from the First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited.

Ahmed of Kwara State, will also be invited by the EFCC once his tenure comes to an end.

His successor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, has also vowed to probe the governor once he loses his immunity.

Ahmed, who is the godson to Senate President Bukola Saraki, was accused of diverting state funds.

Earlier in the month, the EFCC arrested six commissioners and government officials in Kwara State for allegedly diverting N1bn a week before the National Assembly and presidential elections.

The EFCC said in a situation report that bank officials had been brought in for questioning and had made relevant statements.

Amosun, who has been suspended by the APC, has also come under probe by the commission.

The probe was sequel to a petition written by a group, Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate, over an alleged misappropriation of N4bn Anchor Borrowers’ Fund meant for Ogun farmers.

The group, in the petition dated February 20, 2019, alleged that the sum was made available to the Amosun-led government in 2017 by the Central Bank of Nigeria to provide jobs for the residents through the mass production of rice.

It alleged that Amosun staged a jamboree ceremony and set up fake rice pyramids to deceive the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, when he (Emefiele) visited the state last year.

The group further accused the governor of abandoning the project in spite of his promise to establish rice plantations in the three senatorial districts of the state.

The EFCC may, however, have to wait till 2023 before taking further action on five governors-elect – Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Udom Emmanuel, as well as Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who are all being investigated for alleged diversion of public funds.

Should Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, win re-election in April, the EFCC will also have to wait till 2023 before taking any action against him.

A panel constituted to investigate the electoral and other offences perpetrated during the December 10, 2016 Rivers parliamentary re-run said that it recovered N111m from 23 INEC officials.

The Chairman of the panel, Damian Okoro, alleged that three senior electoral officers collected N20m each out of the N360m given to them by Governor Wike, while the remaining officers received N15m each.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Tony Orilade, said all the corruption allegations would be treated on a “case-by-case” basis.

Orilade said, “I don’t have the full details of the cases but investigations have been going on as regards some of these cases and as soon as their immunity is gone, we will take further action and if there is a prima facie case, we will take the matter to court.

“As for those who have won and are going to be covered by immunity, it does not mean that investigations will stop. They are not immune from investigation but from prosecution as guaranteed by the constitution. And at the proper time, if there is a prima facie case, they will be prosecuted.”

FG Orders Civil Servants To Use .gov.ng Emails

The federal government may have concluded arrangement to move all official government documents and exchanges on to a more secure domestic security infrastructure. This is in a renewed security ethos designed to permeate through all tiers of government and its agencies and to protect state mechanism from deliberate and unintended abuse.

With the move, emails sent or received on free email account, no matter their content, are not public records because they are not owned or used by a government agency.

In place of free email accounts; Galaxy Backbone Plc; a public enterprise under the supervision of the office of the secretary to the government, and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have reportedly been mandated to create .gov.ng domain based email accounts for the public service organizations.

Each ministry will now have customized email accounts that allow its civil servants to use the ministry’s name as their e-mail domain and in turn allow people to immediately recognize incoming e-mail messages´ origin. For example, wazobia@mod.gov.ng.

But, implementing the directive may face many bottlenecks after it was discovered that most of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the federal government are still without active websites.

Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, director-general, NITDA, who is worried about the development, said that ‘’This has prevented IT, to some extent, from becoming an asset shaping strategic future opportunities of public institutions and the Government as a whole. The implication and consequence of all these is high rate of IT projects failures.”

Critics of government are quick to dismiss the latest initiative, citing several failed attempts.Previous attempts to ban the use of so-called free email accounts like Yahoomail, Gmail, etc; and enforce the use of .ng based emails for government businesses were hobbled by bureaucracy coupled by the sore-footed and refractory approach of civil servants.

But a top official at the presidency, said that with internet-related issues such as identity theft and online privacy becoming a global concern, the federal government has been forced to act quickly. The source said that “A permanent secretary, for instance sending sensitive documents like military proposals and vouchers through free email accounts, run the risk of exposing intra and inter-ministerial transactions, which may be a clear breach of national security”.

According to the source, the new email policy will make it mandatory for government offices to communicate only on.gov.ng . rather than commercial email services It is also a measure to tackle the menace of cyber criminals who set up fraudulent websites and have reduced Nigeria’s image among the comity of Nations.

Additionally, it is meant to prevent sensitive documents belonging to the government from becoming the property of a foreign government or multinational. However, with developed nations and large corporations facing complex attacks from hackers; the security architecture of the federal government may need to be re-evaluated

Why I Avoid Worshipping In National Mosque – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has given reasons why he observes Juma’at prayers at the Presidential Villa, and not the National Mosque in Abuja.

He said he deliberately decided to be worshipping inside the villa to prevent the constraints and inconveniences presidential movements may cause to the people.

The President was responding to a request by a delegation of Imams and Senior Islamic Scholars from all States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory led by Prof. Shehu Ahmad Galadanci, the Murshid, National Mosque.

‘‘Regarding your request for me to be attending Juma’at prayers in the National Mosque, I implore you to note that I personally started observing Juma’at prayers in the State House in order to reduce hardships which people may pass through.

‘‘As you all know, Presidential movements require roadblocks and other attendant restrictions which could subject worshippers and other people to a lot of difficulties,’’ the President told the Islamic scholars who were at State House to congratulate him on his overwhelming victory at the February 23 presidential election.

Buhari welcomed the counsel of the Islamic scholars on the teachings of the Prophet about the obligations of leaders towards their subjects, and vice-versa.

The President thanked them for their prayers and support for his administration, assuring that the administration will leave no stone unturned in addressing the security challenges facing the country.

Congratulating the President on his re-election, Prof Galadanci noted that the victory demonstrates the desire of the majority of Nigerians to ensure the continuity of the administration to the next level.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the President the ability to continue with the ‘‘excellent work’’ he is doing for the country.

Highlighting noteworthy achievements of the Buhari administration in the area of security, agriculture and the fight against corruption, the leader of the group urged the President to remain focused while praying Allah to continue to give him the power to ‘‘annihilate and wipe off’’ pockets of terrorists in the country.

Backlash From Nigerians, The Least Of My Problems – Etinosa

Actor and comedienne, Etinosa Idemudia, recently got a lot of negative reviews from Nigerians after it was alleged that she went Unclad on Mc Galaxy’s Instagram live video.

After several criticisms from her fans and followers, she made a statement on her Instagram page to thank everyone that reached out to her during that period. It read, “Thanks to all who reached out (sic). I’m ok.

Sometimes dealing with issues can be tough. You feel the weight on you all by yourself and you want to explode. You want to give up. While some handle it with prayers, others handle it in other ways which may or may not be accepted by society.

I made a mistake I do not ever wish to repeat. No man is perfect but we must continue to strive for perfection. The big blunder has occurred and I would love to move on. Me, my pot belly and the rest of my beautiful body (sic).”

However, in a recent interview , she noted that the backlash she got after the incident was the least of her problems.“I am not depressed, I will never be depressed. In life we have challenges once in a while, everybody has challenges. What makes a strong woman is how you face and solve your challenges by turning them into testimonies.

I Can’t Appoint Or Impose Anyone On The Senate – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole has said that contrary to claims in some quarters, he does not possess the power to chose who becomes the Senate President of the 9th National Assembly (NASS).

He said all that he has done with regards to the issue of who becomes president of the 9th NASS, is to engage members of the National Assembly and members of the executive, in a bid to bring the two together to discuss questions of how the party can manage its huge majority in the parliament.

Oshiomhole said he stressed that he has no power to appoint or impose anyone on the Senate.

“Do I look like someone who can appoint and impose somebody on the Senate, even if I wished to?” Oshiomhole asked.

He said all he has is the power to “persuade, the power to negotiate and the power to point out what might go wrong” if the party does not organise itself as to obtain a process for electing leadership.

Oshiomhole also assured that each of the six geopolitical zones will have a principal officer in the Senate and a principal officer in the House of Representatives.

“What that Principal officer will be, has not been resolved, we are currently discussing the zoning,” he added.

N8.7bn Debt: Innoson Motors Moves To Take Over Gtbank

Innoson Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s indigenous vehicle production company, has instituted a move to take over Guaranteed Trust Bank, GTB, following a ruling by the Supreme Court over the bank’s N8.7 billion indebtedness to the company.
The company’s chairman, Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma, made the move through a “Writ of FiFa taken over Guaranty Trust Bank PLC for and on half of Innoson Nigeria Ltd” as a result of the Bank’s indebtedness to Innoson Nigeria Ltd.

In a landmark decision on February 27th 2019, the Supreme Court had dismissed GTB’s appeal marked SC. 694/2014- against the judgment of Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division.
The Court of Appeal, Ibadan division had in its decision of 6th February 2014 dismissed GTB’s appeal against the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division.

Thus, the Court of Appeal affirmed the judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division which ordered GTB by way of Garnishee order absolute – to pay N2.4 Billion to Innoson with a 22 per cent interest, per annum, on the judgment sum until the final liquidation of the judgment debt.

Rather than obey the judgment of the Court of Appeal, GTB approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal’s decision.

However, in a ruling delivered by Honourable Olabode Rhodes-Vivour JSC on Wednesday, “the Lord Justices of the Supreme Court (JSC) dismissed GTB’s appeal and thus affirmed the concurrent judgment of both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division which ordered GTB by way of Garnishee order absolute – to pay N2.4 Billion to Innoson with a 22% interest, per annum, on the judgment until the final liquidation of the judgment.”

A statement by the Innoson group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Cornel Osigwe disclosed that “The Judgment debt of N2.4B has an accrued interest as at today of about N6,717,909,849.96 which results to about N8.8 Billion.

“Based on the Supreme Court’s decision of 27th February 2019 the counsel to Innoson, Prof McCarthy Mbadugha ESQ, had approached the Federal High Court, Awka Division for leave to enforce the judgment having obtained Certificates of Judgment from the Ibadan Division of the Federal High Court.
“Having obtained the requisite leave, the Federal High Court issued the necessary process for levying execution – the Writ of Fifa.”

INEC Worked Against APC, The Bias Is Clear - Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has said that INEC was grossly biased against the APC in the just concluded general elections.

“I have huge reservations about the way INEC conducted this election. INEC bias against APC is so clear.

“INEC was biased even in the way it dealt with our primaries, INEC was biased in the way in which it selectively used the card readers or the non-use of card readers in some states where it suits them.”

He claimed that there were several instances on paper where INEC contradicted itself as to the way the elections were conducted.

Laying emphasis on the non-use of card readers in some areas, Oshiomhole claimed that in some states were the APC clearly won, the electoral umpire used the non-use of card readers to rig the party out.

Oshiomhole said he will never be in a position to defend INEC as to say that they were fair in executing the duty for which they were set up, with regards to the last general elections.
